To fund its operations, the organization will look in part to a list of 25,000 individuals who previously donated $100 or less. It has collected more than $215,000 in July from various donors, including two Republican assemblymen, a company owned by Issa and other California businesses.

GOP pollster Frank Luntz said the biggest problems Gov. Gray Davis faces in fending off the recall are that the voters who supported him in 2002 are not necessarily on his bandwagon.
-- 49 percent disapprove of his performance as governor.
-- 48 percent have a worse opinion of him over the past six months.
-- 31 percent either strongly or somewhat agree with the statement in reference to Gray Davis: "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore."
